Greg brings over 25 years experience in the design, development, management and delivery of computer software on a broad range of systems, from Windows-based desktops, large UNIX back office systems, flat panel-based devices and today’s 32-bit embedded RISC systems. An expert UNIX, Linux, Windows and C programmer and systems architect specializing in operating systems, interpreter, and graphics windowing system designs, Greg earned a degree in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego in 1980. Greg is the founder and CEO of Century Software, www.centurysoftware.com, a leader in UNIX connectivity solutions, and Century Software Embedded Technologies, a leading developer of core technologies for the worldwide embedded Linux applications market. Century Software was founded in 1985, and has no debt. Greg remains the chief architect and plays a leading role in specifying new product directions. The success of the company exhibits Greg’s ability to deliver quality software on time to meet customer requirements. In 1999, Greg founded the Microwindows Project, an open source project dedicated towards providing a modern graphical windowing environment for embedded Linux systems. This project, on the web at http://microwindows.org has grown very rapidly and is now the defacto standard windowing environment for a broad range of embedded systems designs being used in the market today. The Microwindows Project is open, meaning that the source code is freely available to anyone for there own use. A related project, ViewML brings forth a small footprint web browser for embedded systems. Century Software Embedded Technologies, a division of Century Software, Inc., is a leading developer of core technologies for the worldwide embedded Linux applications market. These technologies include: graphical windowing system development and runtime environments; customized Internet browsers and HTML viewers; embedded multimedia technologies, including MP3 audio and MPEG video players and recorders; and PDA runtime and development suites. These core technologies are designed specifically to allow chip manufacturers, hardware board vendors, and their customers to build embedded applications on x86, PowerPC, StrongARM, MIPS and other microprocessor architectures running on either the Microwindows or X Window System. Based in Salt Lake City, Century Software was founded in 1985 and is privately held. Century Software’s CEO, Gregory Haerr, is the founder and chief maintainer of the Microwindows Project, and founder of the ViewML Project. |
